As a pilot I get a birds eye view to some of the biggest inequities in our city.
When you fly over Vancouver you can see that the vast majority of our city has been reserved for the wealthiest among us - those that can afford a single family home. Meanwhile I've had so many conversations with friends about how they think they will need to leave the city if they want to have kids and build a life. Not because they got a better job somewhere else, not because they want to leave their friends or community, but because it is the only way they can find a home they can afford.
We have a housing crisis in our city.
We have an affordability crisis in our city.
We need leaders who are trained to be decisive. As a pilot I understand the deadly consequences of inaction during a crisis. I believe that is the time to act is here and that OneCity Vancouver must be prepared to deliver the real change Vancouverites deserve.
